Living With Type-1 Diabetes

Type-1 diabetes is classified as an autoimmune disease. If you have Type-1 diabetes, your body's white blood cells kill off your own cells that produce insulin. Nearly 3 million people in the US live with the condition.
Researchers are getting close to a drug that could treat the immune systems of patients with Type-1 diabetes. And science reporter Catherine Price, who has Type-1 diabetes, is one of a couple dozen people who volunteered to test the drug. On New Hampshire Public Radio's Word of Mouth, she talks about the experience.
